As Chibuku nears the end of its tenure they recruit two party starters extraordinaire for a shindig of severe proportions. It’s been a sweltering season for the ‘Buku boys, winding things down slightly from a Liverpool perspective as the summer draws in as they look to focus on fresh opportunities. With another appearance at Creamfields assured, plus dates at Fabric and the awe inspiring We love… Sundays at Space, Ibiza, all locked down, a ‘quiet’ summer is never completely off limits. But a right royal send off to the regularity of their huge parties, even if for only a couple of month’s hibernation, is still going to happen and as expected it’s done with serious style.
Making his Chibuku debut for this epochal party is none other than German wunderkind Boys Noize. Hot off the release of his recent stunning suck my deck comp for Bugged Out!, this DJ has been building up a veritable head of steam on account of his intelligently formed assaults through the bleeding sphere of dance music, notably techno and elector at its most barbaric. But far from being another one of the bang it out school, he’s shown a tremendous capacity for crafting an innate sense of maturity to things, building progressively rather than boshing from the off. Support for his pyrotechnics comes from local lads Revo and James Rand who will both provide an aural pounding crossing bailè, funk and ghetto-tech crunchers.
And if that wasn’t enough dubstep queen Mary Anne Hobbs is in the building. Who knows where this fledgling assault of sonic warfare would be without the support early on from Mary, whose perseverance and ingenuity recognised the sheer talent in the genre long before anyone else? Her preponderance for rib cage shattering beats has rightfully seen her earmarked as the scene’s monarch, and she’s ably backed up by the don of the Liverpool dubstep Furness alongside his reputable emcee Venom.
